Deputy Chief Retires With Fanfare


On Jan. 15, Deputy Chief Robert “Mackie” MacDonald officially retired from the Glen Cove Police Department. His departure was marked with a fly-by from Nassau County Police Department helicopters, a salute from members of the department, as well as surrounding departments and followed by a party for friends and family at La Bussola.

MacDonald served in the department for 32 years. Christopher W. Ortiz has stepped in as his replacement.
