George Michael Rivera, age 66, of Arlington, Virginia, passed away Saturday, Aug. 30. Funeral held at Moore Funeral Home, South Chapel, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington. Interment with full military honors followed in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Memorials: are suggested in memory of George to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org. George was born in New York City on May 22, 1948, to Lino and Mary Ann Rivera. He served his country with a distinguished telecommunications career in the United States Air Force lasting 22 years, serving in the United States, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Germany. After his retirement from the military in 1996, he and his wife Heasook and his daughter Vanessa moved to Arlington and he recently retired as a telecommunications specialist with the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department. He was a Christian and a member of Fielder Road Baptist Church in Arlington. He dearly loved his church and his family, and leaves many friends through the relationships with his fellow Christians and co-workers. Survivors: George is survived by his wife of 30 years, Heasook Rivera; daughters, Vanessa and Beth; son, Brian; sister, Patricia; and brothers, J.P. of Glen Cove, and Ramon.
