Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016, Order Sons of Italy in America recently recognized Scholarship, Dante Medal and Community Service Awards at its last membership meeting.
This year the following local scholarships and awards were presented: The Lorenzo Martone Family Perpetual Scholarship was presented to Nicholas Rizzo; The Scholarship in Memory of Marianna Crescimanno was presented to Matthew Rizzo; Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Scholarship in Memory of Lisa Carrera was presented to Francesca Gambino; Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Dante Medal for Excellence in Italian, sponsored by the Carrera family, was presented to Jessica Bellomo; Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Dante Medal for Excellence in Italian, sponsored by Kathryn and Angelo Grande, was presented to Nicholas Cristofari; Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Dante Medal for Excellence in Italian, sponsored by Peggy and James McAleer, was presented to Matthew Rizzo; and Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Community Service Award, sponsored by Virginia and Angelo LaRosa, will be presented to Noah Veiga (who was unable to attend).

The 2017 New York State Grand Lodge Foundation Scholarship recipients were: Nicholas Rizzo, who received the DiTrapani Family Scholarship in Memory of Simon DiTrapani; Francesca Gambino received the Angelo & Kathryn Grande Scholarship in Memory of Rose and Frank Della Ratta and the Angelo & Kathryn Grande Scholarship in Memory of Angelina & Ignatius Grande; Matthew Rizzo received the Michael and Elizabeth Carrera Scholarship in Memory of Lisa Carrera, the District II Presidents’ Scholarship in Memory of Lisa Carrera and the Agnes and John Funk Scholarship in Memory of Sam DiTrapani; Alyssa Zangari received the Martone Family Scholarship in Memory of Lorenzo Martone and the Michael Valente Lodge No. 2667 Ed Buscemi Scholarship.
