The Mill Neck Family of Organizations has announced two summer event favorites: the new and improved Mill Neck Cup Golf Tournament & Luxury Spa Day and the sixth annual Sail the Sound for Deafness Regatta and Cocktail Party.
Set at the renowned Pine Hollow Country Club in East Norwich, a venue that has hosted professional golf events like the Pepsi Open and the Met PGA Championship, the all-inclusive Mill Neck Cup & Luxury Spa event has something for everyone.
The Mill Neck Family of Organizations’ annual charity event, held on July 31, allows participants to enjoy a round of golf on Pine Hollow’s noted sprawling course and manicured greens, indulge in a luxurious day at the spa for the female guests and top off the evening with a delicious cocktail dinner.
Exciting contests and prizes are weaved throughout the tournament, like the chance to sink a hole-in-one and drive home in a brand new Range Rover from Land Rover of Glen Cove.
Throughout the day, golfers can rub shoulders with former New York Jets linebacker Chad Cascadden and enjoy complimentary refreshments and a cigar from Hampton Cigar Company. Participants will also receive a swag bag and mementos like a professional photo of their foursome by Golfing Magazine to take home that day.
The charity golf event is no longer just for the men: the lady participants are offered a day of rejuvenation at the Luxury Spa. Located inside of Pine Hollow’s French-Norman style Vanderbilt mansion, the spa offers the ultimate in relaxation. Female guests can pamper themselves with everything from massages to make-up to blowouts from the top businesses across Long Island, like returning supporter Elizabeth Arden from the Garden City Hotel, as well as indulge in private boutique shopping inside of the spa. Unwind and cool down by taking a dip in the private pool lounge or take a yoga or Zumba class taught by top-notch instructors from New York Sports Club Syosset.
Conclude the spectacular day with a delicious cocktail dinner on the veranda overlooking the sunset. Guests can casually chat it up with old friends and meet some new ones, experience a fresh new atmosphere with surprise live entertainment, bid on exclusive silent auction gifts from Steiner Sports and win premier raffle prizes. Awards and the Mill Neck Cup trophy will be presented to the top golfers and special recognition will be given to this year’s honoree, Matthew Pomara.
Funds raised by this event will directly benefit Mill Neck’s mission. More specifically, this year, it will help support the Center for Hearing Health’s new endeavor: an audiology van. Complete with two sound booths and testing equipment, the van will take audiology services directly to groups and organizations in need throughout the greater New York and Long Island areas.
Also coming up shortly after the Mill Neck Cup is the sixth annual Sail the Sound for Deafness Regatta & Cocktail Party on Aug. 10. Oakliff Sailing is making their fleet available for an exciting race around Oyster Bay and into the Sound. Sailors are welcome to participate with their own boats, as well. Spectators are invited to watch from The WaterFront Center’s showpiece Christeen—the oldest oyster sloop in North America.
After the race is over, a cocktail party will take place at the Mill Neck Manor—a spectacular Tudor Revival mansion—featuring great food and drinks from top restaurants in the area, a live band, raffles, a silent auction from Steiner Sports and much more.
“It’s so important to us to not only make sure all of our generous supporters and participants have a great time at our events, but to get the message out of why we are all here, and that’s to help deaf children and adults,” said Samantha Lordi, the recently appointed director of events for Mill Neck. “We are finding more innovative ways to get our students involved in our events, like taking a tour of the Oakcliff Sailing Center and helping out at the Mill Neck Cup with everything from registration to games on the course.”
